Sun King Opens New Taproom at Indianapolis International Airport
Sun King opened it’s sixth location late last month in Concourse B of the Indianapolis Airport. It is a 1,000 square foot taproom offering both food and beverages to travelers seven days a week. They will serve 16 beers on draft.
As you learned yesterday, Hoppy completed his quest to receive a stein from Indy Craft Pass. He went to Sun King in Fishers today to pick up the stein. As is often the case, however, Hoppy snuck into the brewery, from the tap room, and started a conversation with a beautiful hopette. Therefore it was up to me to accept the prize on his behalf.
Gary Making Good Use of Recently Acquired Stein
Completing the Indy Craft Pass was a fun and enjoyable adventure! Should you decide to participate, remember safety first. Follow all COVID-19 health guidelines and State requirements, and drink responsibly.
(Beginning today, all bars are closed in Marion County until at least August 12th. Restaurants return to 50% capacity indoors, with no bar seating allowed.)
If you embark on your own quest, you will visit your favorite brewpubs, tap rooms, breweries, distilleries and wineries, all while discovering new ones.
It was only fitting that Hoppy visited 8th Day Distillery on the 8th day of his quest. He also dropped by Ellison Brewing and Sun King Spirits.

At Ellison Brewing Hoppy enjoyed a Crescent Fresh IPA (6.2% ABV, 65 IBU). He sipped a Goosebumps Cocktail (made with 90 proof Chat Maison Absinthe, lemon, mint and cucumber) at 8th Day Distillery. He quaffed a Keller Haze IPA (6.1% ABV, 51 IBU at Sun King Spirits. (Sorry spirits, this is a beer blog!)
Now for the big announcement – drum roll please: Hoppy has completed the necessary thirty-five check-ins to earn the ceramic stein!
As mentioned in an earlier post, Hoppy had been negligent and forgetful in obtaining check-ins on his Indy Craft Pass, and he had only received four check-ins in approximately a ten month period. Only thirty-one visits are documented in this eight day period, as Hoppy had completed those four visits previously.
Check back again tomorrow to see if Hoppy picks up his stein!
The 7th day of the quest included stops at the following establishments: Peace Water Winery – Indianapolis, West Fork Whiskey, Taxman CityWay and Bier Brewery North.

(They will open a new tasting room in the future at their production facility at the Circle City Industrial Complex.) You can currently obtain your Indy Craft Pass check-in, for New Day Craft, at Fountain Square Brewery.
