BEERCATION – Columbus

BEERCATION – Columbus

Listening to Hoppy, I decided to incorporate a beercation into a pre-planned vacation to visit relatives. The first stop in the trip was Columbus, Ohio where I visited two of their top rated breweries, Hoof-Hearted Brewing and Columbus Brewing. At Hoof Hearted I tasted three IPAs that are all rated higher than 4 on Untappd. They were Discount Nachos, a DDH hazy IPA, $60 Nachos, a DDH hazy DIPA and $120 Nachos, a TDH hazy Triple IPA clocking in at 12% ABV. I also sampled their Crossing Swords, a farmhouse Saison.

6th Annual Anderson On Tap Craft Beer, Wine & Spirits Fest

6th Annual Anderson On Tap Craft Beer, Wine & Spirits Fest

Hoppy attended the Anderson On Tap Fest yesterday that was presented by Keg-N-Bottle in collaboration with The City of Anderson and Indiana On Tap. It was great to see the largest crowd of people enjoying themselves at a festival that I’ve seen since the Brewer’s of Indiana Guild Winterfest in 2019! The festival took place at the Dickmann Town Center and the Paramount Theater in downtown Anderson. The four breweries on the stage at the Paramount, for the initial VIP hour, were Dot & Line Brewery and 2 Toms Brewing from Fort Wayne, Tarnished Hollow Brewing from Anderson, and Hog Molly Brewing from Columbus. There were many good beers available at the festival, and two that I found to be both enjoyable and unique were the 2-A-Days Session Lemon IPA from Hog Molly and the Dill Sour from Field Brewing.

Hoppy learned that the much anticipated opening of Goodwood Brewing in Indianapolis will take place on July 5th.

Photos from the event follow.

What Should Hoppy Do – Sudzfest?

It’s 93 degrees out, what should Hoppy do? Stay on the bine or head to a beer fest? Why the latter of course! He decided to partake in the offerings at the Southside Sudzfest in Indianapolis last Saturday, since it took place in German Park, which has a pavilion and shady trees. Also, this beer fest is different than most, in that it is not limited to ages 21+ and allows for families with children to attend. Included are pictures from the event.

Indiana City Brewing 8th Anniversary Celebration

Indiana City Brewing 8th Anniversary Celebration

Hoppy attended the 8th Anniversary Celebration at Indiana City Brewing yesterday. It coincided with a 5k run in the Indiana Brewery Running Series which began at the brewery at 11am. It also included a can release of Top Dog Watermelon Sour that they brewed in collaboration with IndyHumane, who was also present at the party. (A portion of the sales benefitted IndyHumane.) In addition, Pronto Tacos was there serving their delicious tacos and there was a cornhole tournament held later in the afternoon.

The beautiful brick facility is full of brewing history as it was originally the home of The Home Brewing Co. which was established in 1891.

Hoppy, as usual, enjoyed the excellent offering of brews provided by Indiana City.

Planetary Brewing Visit

Planetary Brewing Visit

Hoppy’s last visit of the day was at Planetary Brewing. They offer a good variety of brews and their taproom has a second floor accessible via a spiral stairway. They also offer limited seating outdoors. They will be participating in the 6th Annual Southside Sudzfest in German Park on Saturday, June 12th. I have included photos of the visit.

Hoosier Brewing Visit

Hoosier Brewing Visit

Hoppy had the opportunity to visit two breweries in downtown Greenwood yesterday that are across the street from each other. The first brewery was Hoosier Brewing. They have an extensive list of sours, serve pizza by the slice or the whole pie, and offer axe throwing to their patrons. Images from Hoosier Brewing follow:
