BEERCATION – ANCHORAGE – BROKEN TOOTH BREWING

BEERCATION – ANCHORAGE – BROKEN TOOTH BREWING

Hoppy is off on another beer adventure! This time it includes Anchorage, Alaska and Tacoma, Washington. The first stop in Anchorage was at Broken Tooth Brewing at Moose’s Tooth Pub and Pizzeria. The brewery was originally named Moose’s Tooth, as well, but the name was changed for business purposes. The pizzeria was ranked as the third best pizzeria in the United States in 2015. (The entity also operates Bear Tooth Theartrepub and Bear Tooth Grill in Anchorage.) Broken Tooth, Moose’s Tooth and Bear Tooth are all peaks in the Denali National Park of the Alaska Range. Hoppy quaffed a YellowEye P.A. (an IPA) with a 7.8% ABV and 74 IBU.

CRAZY HORSE HOPS

CRAZY HORSE HOPS

Hoppy visited some of his friends at Crazy Horse Hops on Tuesday. It is the largest hop farm in Indiana and one of the largest in the Midwest. It is located in Knightstown. This year’s harvest has begun with Cascade and Chinook hops.

It is Hoppy’s favorite time of the year. Be on the lookout for fresh/wet hop ales from your favorite breweries. You can find more information here.

HOG MOLLY – COLUMBUS

HOG MOLLY – COLUMBUS

After missing Hogfest earlier this summer, due to the high heat and humidity, Hoppy ventured out to Hog Molly in Columbus, IN yesterday to knock back a cool one! In this case it was a Hog Molly 2-A-Days Session Lemon IPA clocking in at 4.3% ABV with 45 IBU. He also sampled their Hog Molly IPA at 7.2% ABV and 78 IBU, as well as their Double Tight Double IPA hovering at 8.9% ABV and 100+ IBU. If you haven’t already guessed it, much of the Hog Molly vibe is related to football. They also have a good sense of humor, as evidenced by their signs. Pictures of the taproom follow.

Hoppy visited Primeval Brewing in Noblesville on Saturday. While there, he imbibed a Maxwell International IPA clocking in at 6.4% ABV, 81 IBU. It is named after the Maxwell Motorcars dealership that opened in their taproom space in 1912. Maxwell can be seen painted on the old brick wall in the bar area, which adds to the history of the brewpub. Photos follow.
