Last weekend Hoppy made his first visit to King Jugg Brewing in Fishers. They opened their doors on June 1st of last year. They state that they brew extremely drinkable beer, and their trademarked slogan is “Good Beer for All.”

SUN KING WINTER WARMER AT FLATWATER RESTAURANT โ INDIANAPOLIS
Hoppy attended the Sun King Winter Warmer at Flatwater Restaurant in the Broad Ripple area on Thursday evening. This is an annual event hosted by Flatwater. Many of those in attendance were members of the Indy Beer Group on Meetup.com.
While there, Hoppy sipped on three barrel-aged beers from Sun King. These were as follows:
Chocolate Whiskey Barrel-Aged Scout Badge – A Barrel-Aged Cookie Porter amped up through the use of specialty chocolate whiskey barrel-aging. 8.5% ABV, 10 IBU.
Diddy Muckle – A Bourbon Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale with hints of toffee, molasses, caramel apple, brown sugar, vanilla and oak. ABV 12.9%, IBU 23.
Red Velvet Cake – A Bourbon Barrel-Aged Belgian-Style Dubbel aged in Bourbon Barrels with chocolate. 13.1% ABV, 20 IBU.
You heard it here first, on August 30th of last year, that 3 Floyds was reopening their brewpub in Munster! At that time, I was informed that it was anticipated to open in January 2024. Others have posted their expected opening to occur in May. Currently, I am hearing only that it will open sometime in 2024.
While in Bloomington, Hoppy also made his first visit to Heartwork Brewing. They are an independent, local, family-owned, and veteran-owned craft brewery that opened on November 30, 2023. They utilize reverse osmosis to filter their water and build mineral profiles to fit the style of beer that they are brewing. They also have LUKR faucets which are ideal for lagers (their specialty) by creating a uniquely wet, dense head that enhances a beerโs flavor, aroma, and mouthfeel.
Hoppy imbibed flight-sized offerings of the following during his visit:
German Pilsner – Drawn through a LUKR faucet and described as clean, floral and crushable. 6% ABV.
IPA (New England) – Described as dank, hazy and citrus. 6% ABV.
DIPA (New England) – An Imperial IPA described as grapefruit, pillowy and juicy. 8.5% ABV.
Farmhouse Ale – Saison – Described as banana and citrus. 6.3% ABV.
Vanilla Blueberry Berliner Weisse – A sour with 5.7% ABV.
Hoppy visited Bloomington this weekend and paid his first visit to Metal Works Brewing. They launched in June 2022 after having purchased Function Brewing. They have a rotation of twelve made-in-house beers of different varieties, and they have metal artwork positioned throughout their taproom.
While there, Hoppy quaffed TheWelder American IPA described as light and crisp up front and rounded out with assertive bitterness. 6.4% ABV, 67 IBU.
