Guggman Haus was voted Best Brewery in Indy by viewers of FOX59. This came just days after being named the Best Brewery in Indiana by Yelp. Hoppy believes that his visit there last Saturday may have been the catalyst for the awards! (lol)
The other finalists for the Fox59 award were Cedar Creek in Martinsville, Metazoa in Indy and Moontown in Whitestown.
Last Saturday, on what turned out to be a beautiful afternoon and evening, Hoppy visited both Centerpoint and Guggman House Breweries. His first stop was at Centerpoint, where they were celebrating the Sesquicentennial of Woodruff Place with the launch of Lamppost Lager. Hoppy being Hoppy, however, enjoyed their Blood Orange IPA at 5.2% ABV, 51 IBU. Pictures from the celebration follow:
Hoppy’s next stop was at Guggman Haus Brewing, where he enjoyed a Great Day IPA, an American IPA with citrus forward hop notes and a bready malt profile. It offers bright, fruity aromas and flavors from Citra, Galaxy and Idaho 7 hops. 6.7% ABV 75 IBU. On the Monday after Hoppy’s visit, Yelp posted their list of the top brewery in every state in the U.S., based on Yelp data. For Indiana, the top brewery listed was Guggman Haus! Hoppy visited Klooz Brewz Brewery and Public House in Lebanon yesterday afternoon. Of particular interest in the pub, are pieces of history utilized and displayed which were found during their renovation process.
During his visit, he enjoyed their flagship IPA known as 1832 IPA. It is described as an American IPA with notes of citrus, lime and tropical flavors with a touch of cedar. It was inspired by the pioneer settler who founded Lebanon in 1832. It clocks in at a very low (for IPAs) 5% ABV but delivers bountiful flavor with its 70 IBUs.
He also sampled the following:
The Last Laugh DIPA – DDH featuring Strata, Bergamot and Mosaic hops in a juicy Double IPA. 7.5% ABV 70 IBU
Nameless DIPA – Double New England Style IPA which is juicy, dank and loaded with over 20 lbs. of hops. 8% ABV 85 IBU
While there, Hoppy ran into his friends from Indiana On Tap, who were there prepping for the upcoming Savor Lebanon Festival scheduled for May 7th. Hoppy is a member of the Indiana On Tap Tasting Society Marketplace and would recommend that you take advantage of their six month membership offer if you plan on attending Savor Lebanon. (See Here.)

Last Saturday Hoppy visited the horror themed Scarlet Lane Gastropub on Bellefontaine St. in Indy. This was just after the Dorian Days and Dorian Stout Variants were still available. Hoppy partook of the following:
Dorian Millionaire Stout – w/ Sea Salt & Caramel 6% ABV 35 IBU
Double Dorian Stout – 10% ABV 20 IBU
Olga Imperial Stout – Strong Stout w/ Toffee & Chocolate Notes 11% ABV 25 IBU
He enjoyed them all, with his fave being the Olga!
Having also eaten here previously, Hoppy has a question for Executive Chef Erin Kem. When and where will you be bringing back your delicious Thai Mussels?
