What Should Hoppy Do – Sudzfest?

It’s 93 degrees out, what should Hoppy do? Stay on the bine or head to a beer fest? Why the latter of course! He decided to partake in the offerings at the Southside Sudzfest in Indianapolis last Saturday, since it took place in German Park, which has a pavilion and shady trees. Also, this beer fest is different than most, in that it is not limited to ages 21+ and allows for families with children to attend. Included are pictures from the event.

Indiana City Brewing 8th Anniversary Celebration

Indiana City Brewing 8th Anniversary Celebration

Hoppy attended the 8th Anniversary Celebration at Indiana City Brewing yesterday. It coincided with a 5k run in the Indiana Brewery Running Series which began at the brewery at 11am. It also included a can release of Top Dog Watermelon Sour that they brewed in collaboration with IndyHumane, who was also present at the party. (A portion of the sales benefitted IndyHumane.) In addition, Pronto Tacos was there serving their delicious tacos and there was a cornhole tournament held later in the afternoon.

The beautiful brick facility is full of brewing history as it was originally the home of The Home Brewing Co. which was established in 1891.

Hoppy, as usual, enjoyed the excellent offering of brews provided by Indiana City.

Planetary Brewing Visit

Planetary Brewing Visit

Hoppy’s last visit of the day was at Planetary Brewing. They offer a good variety of brews and their taproom has a second floor accessible via a spiral stairway. They also offer limited seating outdoors. They will be participating in the 6th Annual Southside Sudzfest in German Park on Saturday, June 12th. I have included photos of the visit.

Hoosier Brewing Visit

Hoosier Brewing Visit

Hoppy had the opportunity to visit two breweries in downtown Greenwood yesterday that are across the street from each other. The first brewery was Hoosier Brewing. They have an extensive list of sours, serve pizza by the slice or the whole pie, and offer axe throwing to their patrons. Images from Hoosier Brewing follow:

Black Dog Brewing 1st Anniversary Bash

Black Dog Brewing 1st Anniversary Bash

Hoppy attended the 1st Anniversary Bash at Black Dog Brewing in Mooresville yesterday. It appeared that everyone was enjoying themselves partaking of the eight special beers brewed for the event, the delicious food supplied by JP’s Steakhouse, and the variety of music provided by Rob Amrhein. If you were unable to attend the event, the following images will hopefully give you an idea of what it was like.

Savor Lebanon 2021

Savor Lebanon 2021/Klooz Brewz & Moontown Brewing

Hoppy attended the 5th Annual Savor Lebanon Craft Beer, Wine, Spirits & Food Fest in the beautiful town square in Lebanon. It was presented by the City of Lebanon in partnership with Indiana On Tap. There were a number of commercial craft brewers and a few home brewers on site. These included Bier, Black Dog, Chapman, Escape Velocity, Field, Goodwood, Hog Molly, Klooz Brewz, Moontown, Thieme & Wagner, Traders and Wabash. Klooz Brewz anticipates opening their brewery in Lebanon, across from the Courthouse, at 125 N. Meridian St., by the end of the month. (I have included pictures of the exterior of their brewpub.) Goodwood is out of Louisville, Kentucky and will be opening a brewpub in downtown Indy, in the former location of The Ram. They also expect to open by the end of the month.

Crazy Horse Hops was also in attendance.

Gary had the pleasure to meet and be interviewed by the Two Beerded Guys. You can check them out here.

Everyone attending the event appeared to have a fun time enjoying friends, imbibing, listening to the music, and playing the games of cornhole and fowling.

Afterwards, Hoppy decided to keep it dank by attending the after party at Moontown Brewing in Whitestown. (Pictures are included of the brewpub.) Their 1915 Room, which frequently has entertainment, was not open due to a wedding reception.
