BEERCATION 2022 – RED’S ICE HOUSE RESTAURANT – SOUTH CAROLINA

Hoppy’s next stop was at Red’s Ice House on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant. It has been a fixture there since 1947. While here, Hoppy enjoyed a Hop Art IPA in the can. It is brewed by Coast Brewing out of North Charleston. They describe it as walking a fine line of sweet malt and assertive hop character with a hop presence so enticing that it is truly a work of art. It is 7.7% ABV; 75 IBU

BEERCATION 2022 – THE CHARLESTON POUR HOUSE – SOUTH CAROLINA

Hoppy’s first stop in Charleston was at The Pour House which is located on James Island in Charleston. They opened in 2002, with the mission to be a regional epicenter for music lovers, artists of various mediums, and other like-minded individuals. They have a Sunday Brunch Farmers Market from 11am-3pm every Sunday, behind the venue, which Hoppy attended. While there he quaffed a Pawleys Island Brewing (actually located in North Charleston) Coquina Mango Wheat Ale on tap. It is fermented with one pound of Mango Puree per gallon of beer and has a 4.9% ABV; 12 IBU.

BEERCATION 2022 – BIG TUNA RESTAURANT & BAR – SOUTH CAROLINA

Hoppy visited the Big Tuna Restaurant & Bar aka Old Fish House at the boardwalk in Georgetown, SC. Here he dined on a Flounder while sipping a Huger Street IPA from Palmetto Brewing in Charleston. Palmetto describes it as Chinook and Cascade hops coming together to provide the aroma and flavor of subtle citrus and a variety of caramel malts which keep things balanced with a subtle, simple sweetness the likes of which you can only find in the South. It is 7.2% ABV; 58 IBU

BEERCATION 2022 – INLET BEER GARDEN – SOUTH CAROLINA

A visit to Murrells Inlet would not have been complete without Hoppy stopping at the Inlet Beer Garden nestled outdoors, between the Dead Dog Saloon and the Claw House, on the Marshwalk. Here he enjoyed trying a couple of pints from the sixty plus craft beers that they have available.
