Hoppy next visited the Broken Oar Oyster Bar which is a cozy bar on the Homer Spit with a nice view of Kachemak Bay. It is in a building named the Kachemak Mariculture Center. While there, they were serving draft beers from Matanuska Brewing out of Palmer, Alaska.
Hoppy enjoyed a Long Track IPA described as boasting a big clean citrus and tropical hop aroma accompanied by a slightly sweet malt finish. It clocked in at 6.7% ABV, 55 IBU.

Who goes to Homer without stopping at the Salty Dog Saloon?! The Salty Dawg opened in 1957, two years before Alaska became a state. Its beginnings as a building, however, was as one of the first cabins built in Homer, in 1897, shortly after Homer became a town site. (For more information on its history click here.) It is located on the Homer Spit.
The Saloon has a full bar but only has beer in bottles and cans (no drafts) and does not serve food. They only accept cash, but an ATM is onsite. Bring an extra dollar to hang on the wall!
While there, Hoppy drank an Alaskan Brewing Icy Bay IPA, out of Juneau. It is made from glacier-fed water and a blend of Cascade, Bravo, Calypso, Summit and Apollo hops and premium two-row pale and specialty malts. It is 6.2% ABV, 65 IBU.

Look for Hoppy on the Hammock Coast and Mrytle Beach, at the following establishments, as posted previously on beerblogIN:

Hoppy recently visited the Tomlinson Tap Room at the historic Indianapolis City Market. It is run in partnership with the Brewers of Indiana Guild and the Indianapolis City Market. They feature nineteen beers on draft, all of which are from Indiana breweries.
While visiting, Hoppy enjoyed the following brews:
Spin To Win: Jackpot from Hoosier Brewing in Greenwood. It is a sour packed with loads of fruit – black currant, blackberries, strawberries and blueberries. Described as thick, tart and a touch sweet. 5% ABV.
BBA Blot Out The Sun (2021) from Three Floyds Brewing in Munster. This is an imperial stout that spends over a year in bourbon barrels and extinguishes all light with notes of chocolate, molasses, and brown sugar and whiskey notes from the barrel aging. “Since the dawn of time it has been mankind’s dream to blot out the sun.” – C. Montgomery Burns. 13.4%; 97 IBU.
Into The Wild Sour: Blueberry Pomegranate from Guggman Haus Brewing in Indianapolis. This fruited sour Berliner Weisse combines tart blueberry tannin notes with background pomegranate sweetness. They use a wild yeast strain for natural souring, and brewed with milk sugars for a creamy, refreshing body. 8% ABV.
Each of these three beers have a 4+ rating on Untappd!

While in Prague, Hoppy visited the BeerGeek Bar which also serves as a taproom for Sibeeria Brewing, their own microbrewery which opened in 2014. They have 32 beers on tap which change regularly. During his visit, Hoppy sampled six or seven of the beers that were available, including three or four from Sibeeria. To no one’s surprise, most of these were IPAs.

BEERCATION 2022 – PAWLEYS ISLAND TAVERN – SOUTH CAROLINA
Pawleys Island Tavern, also known as “The PIT”, claims to be a place for locals and those who wanna be. It is located in, you guessed it, Pawleys Island. It is hidden back from Ocean Highway and the best way to find it is to look for a large mailbox that says PIT, just South of The Island Shops.
While there, Hoppy enjoyed a pint of Dirty Myrtle Double IPA from New South Brewing. It is described as being packed ridiculously full of Mosaic, Simcoe and Falconer’s Flight Hops and comes in at a deceiving 8.9% ABV.
